Two cruise industry giants have new ships being introduced into the waters. What can you look forward to? New ship designs, innovative features and state-of-the-art amenities are just the beginning.
Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis Class of Ships. When it hit the waters in December 2009, the Oasis of the Seas was the largest ship ever weighing in at 220,000 gross tons and carrying 5,400 cruisers. With that many people onboard, Royal Caribbean came up with a slew of ways to keep them entertained. The ship features seven different neighborhoods, each distinguished by a theme: Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, Pool & Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.
The Boardwalk is home to the AquaTheater—the first amphitheater at sea, the first-ever seagoing carousel, and a zip line. Central Park has the ambiance of its Manhattan namesake with a lush green landscape and cafés for an afternoon stroll underneath the open sky. Enjoy the Rising Tide Bar, which transports you between three decks, spend some quiet time in the adults-only Solarium, or let the kids' imaginations run wild in the Youth Zone—the largest dedicated youth area at sea.
There are 37 different categories of staterooms onboard, including 28 ultra-modern loft suites for a total of 2,700 staterooms, some overlooking the Boardwalk, Central Park and the Royal Promenade. This ship is 16 decks of marvel to behold.
Its sister ship in the Oasis class, the Allure of the Seas will debut in December 2010. The Oasis class is truly an experience a new or veteran cruiser will love. A must do!
Norwegian Cruise Line's Epic Class of Ships. Another trailblazer will be NCL’s 4,200 passenger Norwegian Epic. This latest member of the Freestyle family will set sail in the summer of 2010 with a multitude of never-before-seen features. New to this class of ships will be the world’s first cruise ship Ice Bar. The Posh Beach Club is a member-only luxury club and Bliss reprises NCL’s signature bowling/disco complex in this bigger and better lounge. There is also an expansive Aqua Park with the only tube slide and largest bowl slide at sea called The Epic Plunge; seven decks of Freestyle Family Fun which include a 33-foot high, 64-foot wide extreme rock climbing wall and the first-ever rappelling wall at sea. Plus, the Epic features 20 dining options and 20 bars and lounges to truly make your cruise as Freestyle as you want it to be.
There is also entertainment like you never have before aboard a ship with the introduction of Blue Man Group—an unforgettable experience that nobody else will get to see at sea. There will also be acrobatic flights of fancy during the Cirque Dreams dinner show, Legends in Concert, Howl at the Moon and Second City. You may not want to sleep at all!
Accommodations onboard include the Studios which transform standard staterooms into cool, urban spaces with exclusive access to The Living Room—a shared private lounge. The Spa Suites and Spa Balconies offer a complete spa vacation at sea. The Villas, are not only luxurious, but also part of the largest suite complex at sea—with 60 suites and villas on two private decks at the top of the ship. And every oceanview stateroom is a balcony stateroom. Another innovation is the new wave staterooms, with curved walls and domed ceilings—a stylish leap forward in cruise ship accommodations.
Norwegian Cruise Line is the official cruise line of Blue Man Group, debuting for the first time at sea on Norwegian Epic. You really must make summer plans now to see it all.

Where are the trendy travelers headed this year? Europe! There are wonderful new hotspots like Sardinia and Croatia and a renewed interest in old favorites like Ibiza, Provence, Mykonos, Milan, and London.
While in Europe...dress as the European.
Although comfort is key, the American travel-comfort gear of sneakers and shapeless skirts are so not chic. That being said, style actually varies from country to country. So what to wear? Keep it simple, look at the locals and follow the guide below.
France It’s always best to keep things simple, neutral and classic rather than too trendy. Some offenses: bright colors (even on kids), baseball caps, loud logos, sneakers, t-shirts and/or sexy clothes. Tip: Shoes and belt should always match.
Greece Both women and men aim to have the Gap ad look such as: linen trousers, nice t-shirts, sweaters tied around the shoulders, oversized sunglasses (women), nice jeans, shirts with sleeves rolled to the elbow (men) Tip: No baseball caps, no Birkenstocks and fake-hippie skirts.
United Kingdom The look—hip and cool, not preppy.
Skinny jeans can take a woman or man from a meeting to pub crawl. Ladies mix old with new, a battered leather jacket with a floor sweeping gown for example. It’s a free and less polished look that works. Men wear peg-leg trousers in primary colors with plaid shirts and tees. Don’t opt for chinos or polos—the preppy look does not work well in London. Tip: While wellies (rubber boots) might be British, save them for the country.
London & Teens. It’s a great time for a family vacation to London, especially with teenagers. Besides getting ready for the 2012 Olympics, there are many upcoming celebrations plus an ad campaign “Only in London” which showcases many reinventions, renovations and transformations.
Your teens will rave about visiting some locations made famous by movies, TV and books. Go on guided walks throughout the city which include locations where The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and others made history; Changing of the Guard; and Jack the Ripper Walk.
Once in the area, stop by Whitechapel Art Gallery, built in 1901. Made bigger by its merge with the adjacent library, the gallery has a history of showcasing emerging artists and has featured such names as Kahlo, Pollock, Rothko and Picasso.
